The Rotasia 2016 was held in Sri Lanka for the first time in history with the participation of countries such as India, Nepal and Bangladesh, which mainly focused on the south Asian region. All the members were informed through a text message, Phone calls, and circulated e-mails and via social media.
The objective of this event was to build unity and harmony among the Rotary and Rotaractors, to discuss Rotaract related matters and issues and also to exchange information and ideas between Rotaractors.Over 500 rotaractors and rotarians participated in the three day conference which would include many activities.
Day 1: The opening ceremony of the conference was held on the 05th of February, at NelumPokuna- MahindaRajapakse Theatre with the participation over 500 international participants, where they were able to experience the rich culture of Sri Lanka.
Day 2: The second day of Rotasia was held on the 06th of February, at Trace Expert city, Maradana. The proceedings of the second day were mainly focused on the theme of ‘Business’, where the participants had the opportunity to attend sessions on topics related to ‘Rotary and Youth and social entrepreneurship’. During the second half of the day the participants was engaged in preparing themselves for the cultural night which was held at the Viharamahadevi open theater. The evening ended with the final two rounds for Mr.and Miss Rotasia 2016, District Presentations and District Rotaract representatives.
Day 3 The third day of Rotasia started with ‘Conquer Colombo’, a scavenger hunt for both local and international participants which many found it exciting and challenging. The day ended by a beach party held at Shore by O, which was indeed a night filled with fellowship and entertainment.
As the last day drew to a close on the 08th February 2016, the closing ceremony was held at the NelumPokuna-MahindaRajapakse Theatre, where the presentation of awards and crowning of Mr and Miss Rotasia was successfully completed there by bringing Rotasia 2016 to an end.
