Annual Wesak Lantern project

This is an annual project of the Rotaract Club of Kandy where each year we visit the Singithi Sevana childrens orphanage on wesak day and make the wesak lanterns with them and complete it by lighting the lanterns and candles in the evening with them.
This year the members visited the children’s home with the necessary materials in the morning of the day of wesak and the lantern making took place for 3-4 hours during which the children also interacted and shared their likes and dislikes while helping in the process of making the lanterns according to their wishes and enjoying the day.  After the lanterns were ready, they were hung up in various places in the Children’s home following their departure.
In the evening the lanterns were lit by the members along with buckets and oil lamps around the premises with the assistance of the children.
