Donation of Clothes to Annai Illam Orphanage in Mannar

Donating clothes to charity is a wonderful thing.  The Rotaract Club of Kandy did a clothes donation project on the 14th of Januay 2016 under the avenue of Community Service.With the help of Rtn.John Baskaran and Conal Sudarma Suriyadasa we found a girls orphanage in Mannar. With the help of our members in the club and with the help from our family members we managed to buy them new clothes and we donated them to Annai Illam Orphanage in Mannar on the day of Thai Pongal to bring a smile on their faces. Girls in Annai Illam and members of our club enjoyed the day while celebrating Thai Pongal with the blessing from SuriyaBhagavan.

Celebration of Thai Pongal in Mannar

The Tamil festival of Thai Pongal is a thanks giving ceremony in which the farmers celebrate the event to thank the spirits of nature , the Sun and the farm animals for their assistance in providing a successful harvest. The rest of the people celebrate the festival to pay their thanks to the farmers for the production of food. Overall, it is a festival to encourage social cohesiveness and unite people by bringing them together in a common function. Celebrating this festival with the needy is a great blessing.The Rotaract Club of Kandy Celebrated the Thai Pongal on the 14th o January 2016 along with the donation of clothes project for the first time. This was a great opportunity as we learned about the importance of Pongal and we made Pongal along with the Annai Illam Orphanage girls.The project was successfully completed with fellowship.

Christmas Gift Box

"Christmas Gift Box" is our annual Christmas project where we commemorate the festival in its true sense of giving by presenting gift packs to the needy. The basic plan of the project this year was to donate Stationary to 60 children at Bowlana Junior college in Marassana. On 2nd of January Members of the Rotaract Club of Kandy visited the Bowlana junior college to donate the stationery. The student and staff of the school welcomed us with great enthusiasm and were very happy to meet us. Through this project we were able to bring a smile to the little children by conveying the true spirit of Christmas.Sincere Thanks to everyone who contributed to bring a smile & brighten the future of the Students. The Christmas Giftbox Project was an immense success.

Christmas Party and Secret Santa

The annual Christmas party of the club was held on the 17th December 2017 together with the Secret Santa project. The club members had a great time enjoying and playing different games. Gifts were exchanged between the members reflecting the spirit of Christmas and fellowship. This project helped the club members to reunite and have a memorable time with each other. The party was concluded after having dinner from the president.

Club Assembly

The annual Club Assembly of the Rotaract Club of Kandy was held on the 29th of October 2016 at Kandy Club. The members were able to talk about their issues and also their ideas for the development of club activities. This was a great opportunity for the all the club members from which the club was able to refresh the ideas and rectify the issues.

Fun with French

The Fun With French workshop, jointly organized by the Rotaract clubs of Kandy and Neptune Edification, saw successful completion on the 23rd October 2016 at the Kandy Club Premises.
        Conducted by Rotaractors Fairoza Farooz, Dedunu Akarshanie and Hashanika Pamindi, the workshop was an interactive and fun experience for everyone. It included an introduction to the basics of the French language, as well as interesting activities based on French poems and crossword puzzles.

Hopes Of Paradise

It is said that the most innocent and truthful emotions will be seen only in children. It has also been known that love must be given to such innocent and honest children.

Hence, we the Rotaract Club of Kandy organized a project to bring a bunch of innocent hearted children for a visit to Kandy. A group of 25 children and 25 parents from Munwatta Primary school were brought to Kandy on the 1^st of October and were taken to Dalada Maligawa and then to Peradeniya Botanical Gardens. They were then provided with Lunch and the children were taken to a Children’s park where they enjoyed so much playing around. Their enjoying moments and the pure and innocent smiles proved that our effort was not in vain.

 The children, the parents and of course the members of the Kandy Rotaract club enjoyed every moment of the world children’s day.
