DRR Visit

The District Rotaract representative usually visit every club of his district to get an performance evaluation for the year of each club.
We decided with the board of our club and then informed the district secretary about a date for the DRR to visit. Afterwards the Avenue
directors, Secretary and the Treasurer was asked to prepare the necessary documentation. Majority of the club members supported the officials to gather the documents and to prepare the files.

We had the DRR visit jointly with the Rotaracr club of Neptune Edification. The DRR had a casual discussion with the members of the club and with the members who newly joined the club to get their views about this movement. After that he checked the docments and files of the two clubs to get an idea where the club stands and to view its performance.
This was a great opportunity for all of us where we were able to meet the DRR and to discuss the matters of our club and to get both negative and positive views.

As Sri Lankans we use three languages as Sinhala,Tamil and English. The Rotaract Club of Kandy normally conduct all meetings in English.
Our president decided to have a meeting in Sinhala on the 14 th of February 2016 as a professional development project for our club members. We conducted this meeting with professional Sinhala words and the flag salutation was read in all three languages as usual. This meeting was a challenge for us where we had to use all professional Sinhala words but we did it successfully and was able to learn a lot from it.

Rotaract Awareness

The awareness program started soon after the general meeting at around 10.30 a.m at Kandy Club.
The project co-chairperson ADRR Rtr PP PHF Ravindra Thammita held the 1 st session.
It was an interactive session where question were asked from the members about the history of the rotaract movement and rotary movement. It was a very productive session as all our members were able to widen their knowledge about the movement they are involved in.

Then the members were different posts in the club and they were asked to explain the role of each post according to their knowledge and they were corrected by the president and the senior members and were taught of the role of each and every post in the club starting from the role of an member.

The members were also made aware of the history of the Rotaract club of Kandy and a slideshow was shown which gave a good description of the massive and worthy projects that our club has done within the past 30 years.

The 2 nd session was carried out by Rtr.PP Wajdi Siraj on decision making, communication and convincing skills. The participants were divided in to 3 groups for this and they were given different scenarios to test on the skills of decision making and positive thinking. Then we were given a challenge were we had to build a structure using straws and it was a enjoyable time were we all got together as one team.

This program was a great opportunity from which all our members got a wide knowledge on our movement ,the glory of our club and how we should keep it going. And also we gained a lot of other valuable skills which we could use in the matters of our life.

Hosting Rotaractors from Bihar

Spending time alone, with no company, tends to make our mind wander. Well, it turns the futility of ourselves into a finely tuned person that we never knew before. Hosting Bihar Rotaractors was an international understanding project of us, the team Kandy with a greater importance. The project was held on the days of 19 th and 20 th of February 2016, with the guidance of Rtr.Ravindra Thammita. We hosted ten rotaractors from Bihar. We arranged them accommodation in Kandy. We took them around in Kandy including Temple of Tooth Relic. And afterwards went for fellowship dinner before bidding them good bye. This project paved the road to build up friendship beyond the sea.
