“Achieving Sustainable Development Goals
Through Non-Violence”
The
Rotaract Club of Kandy ventured out to assist a massive advocacy campaign
“Achieving Sustainable Development Goals through Non-Violence” in the aim of
highlighting the participation of the youth of the country towards sustainable
peace and development. The campaign was
organized by The Association of War Affected Women, a Non-Government
Organization in Kandy, Sri Lanka on 11th -13th January, 19th
January and 9th February 2019. The project chaired by Rtr. Nuzla
Askin.
The main objectives of the advocacy campaign were
1) To make the General public aware of “Unity”
2) Walk the journey to prosperity together with the
youth.
3) Protecting the environment through the Slogan “Tree
is Life”
Following were the main activities carried out during
the campaign
5 Public meetings in selected 5 towns in the Island
1). Exhibition which showcased,

digital screening of the World War and its destruction.

digital screening about lessons to learn from Japan’s recovery
Ø A
digital screening depicting the importance of a “tree”
Ø Quotes
from Religious leaders
Ø Quotes
from renowned personalities
Which was exhibited in all the 5 selected towns

4). Distribution of School Exercise books to school
children with the cover printed with

Violence”
